Wan Hai Lines, WAN HAI 503, successfully rescued a China Fishing Boat

It’s on around 11.41 a.m., January 12th. Wan Hai Lines Ltd (“WHL”) container vessel, WAN HAI 503, received a sea urgent assistance request from MRCC Hong Kong, at location 18-03 N, 117-05E, around 196.3 miles away Laoag ,Philippines where a China fishing boat(LUK FUNG 50021) need help while it was on its way departing away Singapore port and bound for Kaohsiung port Taiwan. After analyzing all collected information, The Captain of WAN HAI 503, Mr. Yang, immediately instructed all crews to take actions and rescue the fishing boat. They soon changed the course towards the fishing boat in distress with full speed.

WAN HAI 503 approached the accident site at 13:39 p.m. and rescued 5 crews in ten
minutes. Later the China fishing boat sank. After that, WAN HAI 503 helped connecting
Hong Kong MRCC and took the 5 crews to Kaohsiung port Taiwan for further formalities and provide them better nursing or caring.

WAN HAI 503 successfully rescued the fishing boat crew, not only adhered to the
international convention on search rescues, but also was a good paragon in implementation.Wan Hai Lines Capt. Yang and his crew already set up an excellent standard and practice of ethics for all seafarers and carriers on marine rescue.
