With an eye on growing Vietnamese economy, Wan Hai entered into a joint venture agreement with Saigon New Port Co., Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Itochu Group to construct and operate Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HICT) which has officially opened on the 13th May. Mr. Ted Chen of Wan Hai’s board director and Mr. James Yeh, Senior vice President of Wan Hai were both presented in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Ideally located in the northern Vietnam outside of Haiphong , HICT is of the capacity to accommodate up to 14,000 TEUs container vessels given its 16 meters water depth berth front. In addition, it will also serve as a main gate way not only for cargo to/from major north-south trade lanes but also for streams plying east-west trade such as to Middle-East Europe and the America. Shippers and consignees will be further benefited by virtue of HICT’s convenient and efficient operation in the region.

Inaugurated her first service ever since 1993, Wan Hai offers 13 direct call services nowadays across Vietnamese coastline with full coverage to Ho Chi Minh, Cain Map, Da Nang and Hai Phuong. The successful launching of HICT will undoubtedly further give Wan Hai’s global strategy an even better footnote , followed by the newly set milestone of 1.3M TEUs throughput achieved in Cai Mep in 2017.
